Mentally Disabled Can Be Physically Sound!


The American Disability Act defines mental disability as a condition defined by any kind of mental illness or retardation or impairment or mental deficiency that lessens his or her capacity to use her/his judgment, customary self control or discretion in different conducts prohibiting him/her to lead a normal life.

A mentally disabled person may seem physically perfect or unimpaired. A physically healthy, mentally disabled person cannot be judged at first sight about his disabilities until you interact with him. Whereas those mentally disabled persons having physical or visible symptoms are easily recognized. Among them the former can prove to be dangerous to society since America has a history of such mentally retarded polished killers and serial rapists. It’s very difficult to guess what runs in their mind and what would be their next move. The sex maniac mentally retarded individuals have been found to be very swift in targeting their victims and fulfilling their desires.

Anyways, there are many mental disabilities like Autism, ADHD, Epilepsy and Cerebral Palsy and so on. Let’s have a look at them-

Autism: It’s a developmental disability which happens due to disorder of CNS (central nervous system). It generally occurs before the age of three years and a child having autism shows delay of social behaviorism, interaction or language learning.

ADHD (Attention Deficient Hyperactive Disorder): In this mental disability, the child has a problem in learning, reading, computing and accessing the words spoken or understanding the read sentences. He has a deficiency of attention and assimilation of things.

Cerebral Palsy: This mental disorder has all to do with neurological disorders in the cerebral area of the brain. This non contagious, non progressive mental retardation causes physical disability or development of body structures.

Epilepsy: Due to abnormal neuronal activity in the brain, this chronic neurological disorder happens mostly in children due to genetic disorder but can also happen due to injury or other causes.
