However, since there is tightening of chest involved many of the people feel that they are undergoing a heart attack, which adds to their fear. The fear is misplaced because heart attacks have additional symptoms apart from the chest pain and tightening of chest. So far as panic attacks are concerned, they too have their own set of symptoms.

A panic attack cannot stay for longer than 15 minutes. This is because the body cannot maintain its reaction to a stressful situation for more than 15 minutes. So, when you experience the attack the next time, stay calm for 15 minutes. The attack would soon pass on its own.

Another crucial indicator of a panic attack is one’s feeling anxious after the attack. This is caused due to the fear of forthcoming attacks. It is quite natural. Rest assured, even this fear is temporary. It would go away in a week or so.

The attacks of this kind once in a while are quite fine, but if they occur too often, you must take them seriously. They might be an indication that you are suffering from a chronic condition. In that case it is advisable that you seek the help of an expert at the earliest.
